Kiski Junction Railroad- Where are we?-

Maps of Armstrong County and SW PA

for actual intersection pictures of this route click here

Above is an aerial map from the USGS with an overlay of directions to us, it is a 16 mile loop from Freeport to us because there is no bridge closer ,(although Freeport is only one mile across the river). The roads are hilly , narrow and 2 lane. It can take up to 45 minutes  to get from the Freeport Exit 17, off 28 North to our railroad station in Schenley. It is a pretty drive though!

We are located in Schenley, Pa. ( population 72+2) in Gilpin Twp., Southwest corner of Armstrong County, Southwest  corner of Pennsylvania.

We are 14 miles South of Kittanning, 2 miles North of Leechburg on  St.Rt. 66 then 4 miles West on Schenley Road.( There is a  traffic blinker at Schenley Road and St. Rt. 66 intersection). Schenley road is a dead end , at the bottom cross our  railroad tracks to Railroad Street and you will see our Railroad Station  just ahead. We are outside the gates of the Industrial park which was the former Schenley Distillery. We are only 30 miles Northeast of Pittsburgh but a good hour and half drive from downtown Pittsburgh. ( some of our crew drive this route every day)

Sorry there are no online maps with clear correct directions to us

Mapquest and Yahoo have serious errors especially through Leechburg

Driving directions from Pittsburgh: From the North/West take Route 28 North to Route 366 East at Tarentum/New Kensington  then 56 East  (about 11 miles to 66 North into Leechburg go up the hill 2 miles to Schenley Road (new blinker here) make a left and come 4 miles down the hill into Schenley, cross our tracks and you'll see our station ahead.....or

You can also take 28 North all the way to Kittanning ,then get on 66 South to Schenley Road( 14 Miles).Turn right at the blinker, this is Schenley Road, go four miles down the hill into Schenley and cross the RR tracks. You'll see our station........ or  most used

Route 28 North to Freeport, Exit 17, from Freeport get on Route 356 South go about 6 miles to a red light. Which is the intersection with Route 56 East. (Follow the signs for Leechburg.) Do not make any right turns ahead. Stay to your left on the main road.

At this light, turn Left if coming from Freeport, (or stay straight if coming from Lower Burrell on Route 56 East). Go straight to the next red light, a couple of blocks ahead. You will see the "Pop Stop"gas station just on the other side of the light on your right, continue straight ahead. This little section is not clearly marked but is Route 56 East. You need to continue on straight through that red light.

After you pass through this light you will pass a little "Kiski Park "plaza and the big "56 bypass" on your right, continue straight ahead,  here is another red light, then it will start down hill to the little town of Leechburg. You will come to a bridge at the bottom of the hill ( this crosses the Kiski River , IGA to your left). This is where Route 66 North starts. Stay in the middle lane. Go to the red light, which you will see. Then follow that road, 66 North,it will go around a bend and on up the hill out of Leechburg 2 miles. At the top of the hill is Schenley Road, look for the KJR signs. NEW BLINKER LIGHT INSTALLED HERE.

Turn Left AT THE BLINKER and go 4 miles down the hill into Schenley, cross the RR tracks

( see our Post Office) our station is 750 feet ahead on your right.

Schenley is a dead end. You will dead end at our RR station before the Schenley Industrial Park. click   directions from 28N   for a  new page with pictures of the actual  intersections and  Penn-Dot  road signs    a picture is worth a thousands words.

We are one mile from Freeport but it is a 16 mile drive around-no bridge over the Kiski or Allegheny River from Freeport to me.
